Residential life extends student learning and growth into the campus’s residential community, promoting a purposeful and inclusive environment.

Residential Life

Our Residential Life program emphasizes community. First and second-year students belong to one of four residential commons, groupings that allow them to make friends, and feel connected erly in their college life. Beyond the Commons, most every third and fourth-year student lives in Colgate housing, an offering that is guaranteed all four years.

The Residential Commons

Students gather around a bonfire during a Commons event

The Residential Commons program is the foundation of the Colgate residential experience. The commons connect student residents to peers, to faculty, and to intellectually and socially rich programming.

All students live within their Residential Commons for their first two years, with options for more independent living during junior and senior year.
